From January to March 2023, China accounted for 59% of the world's new energy vehicle share

Recently, Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the Passenger Federation, said through his personal wechat public account that the trend of new energy vehicles in 2023 is relatively stable. The sales volume of new energy vehicles in the broad sense from January to March of 2023 is 3.7 million, of which hybrid power reaches 1.09 million, accounting for 30%. Affected by the high base and the gradual withdrawal of various countries' subsidy policies, the world's new energy passenger vehicles in 2023 have a strong trend, reaching 2.55 million new energy passenger vehicles from January to March, with a year-on-year growth of 26%. From January to March 2023, China's new-energy passenger vehicles accounted for 59% of the world's new-energy vehicles.

Cui Dongshu pointed out that the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the world shows a trend of rapid increase, reaching 17% in the fourth quarter of 2022 and 13% in the first quarter of 2023, among which the penetration rate of new energy vehicles in China reached 25%, Germany 18%, Norway 71%, the United States only 8.8% and Japan only 3%. Therefore, the imbalance of new energy development in the world is extremely obvious. As China continues to strengthen the development of new energy and the United States increases the encouragement of new energy policies, the world's new energy vehicles have entered a new stage of strong development.

In terms of vehicle enterprise performance, in terms of sales share over the years, China's BYD leads the world, SAIC performs well in new energy, and Tesla remains the world's leading pure electric company. Saic Passenger Car and SAIC Wuling, two autonomous car companies, have done well. Volkswagen's new energy vehicles have a strong performance, while BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz remain in the second tier. The competition in the new energy wave of luxury cars is relatively fierce. The excellent performance of Tesla in the United States has pushed Mercedes Benz and BMW to increase investment in new energy vehicles. The performance cars of BMW and Mercedes are not doing so well, while Tesla's sales are in increments of Model 3 and Model Y. The performance of China's new forces is generally strong, especially the performance of Nio is particularly good.
